Blackpool Council officials have recently announced plans to make St Johns Square traffic free by summer 2010.
The traffic debate has raised interest from local residents and businesses alike since the improvements were unveilled last summer.
Council leader Coun Peter Callow, said: "We want to see it as a traffic-free area by summer."
